Marlborough
The Marlborough Community Area covers 281km2 of rural countryside in the northeast of the county. It is dominated by the market town of Marlborough. There are 19 parishes across the community area.
Much of the community area is environmentally protected and the whole of the area lies within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The village of Avebury is home to prehistoric circles and stones dating back to 2500 BC and hosts a museum with one of the most important prehistoric archaeological collections in Britain. Silbury Hill is another ancient monument located in the community area and is the tallest human constructed mound in Europe. Savernake forest resides to the south of Marlborough and is the only privately owned forest in Britain.
Population
Wiltshire as a whole is a fairly affluent local authority, however there are pockets of deprivation. A map of deprivation in Marlborough Community Area is provided below.
