Adults with learning disabilities and autism are a population group in Wiltshire where little is known about their specific health and wellbeing needs. To date there has been no Health Needs Assessment undertaken focusing on this population group in Wiltshire. Following the Covid-19 pandemic where the most vulnerable population groups in society have been disproportionately affected, there is a need to develop a greater understanding of this population group in Wiltshire and make recommendations across the system to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes.
The aim of this HNA is to review the data and evidence base including stakeholder engagement to develop a greater understanding of the health and wellbeing unmet needs of adults with learning disabilities and autism in Wiltshire. It will inform what their future needs are likely to be and how these can be met.
The scope of this HNA will focus on adults aged 18 and over who have a learning disability and/or autism. Children and young people with learning disabilities and autism will not be the focus of this HNA, but where data is not available for specific age groups or children and young people separately to adults, then they are included
