Health and Wellbeing
In general terms, health in Wiltshire compares well with other areas, but continuing work to maintain and improve health is vital to ensure future populations are given the best chances. Early intervention, particularly for those who are most in need and most vulnerable, is achieved by providing support and assistance as early as possible when people need it, whatever their life stage.
The following report includes data in relation to the health and wellbeing of people living in Wiltshire, including levels of vaccination, breastfeeding and mortality from a range of causes. A full list of indicators is provided in the links below.
The data here is designed to help communities to understand local health and wellbeing issues and to develop community-led work to improve local outcomes. Comparative analysis of a range of key indicators is provided relating to the health and wellbeing of people in Wiltshire and is intended as a resource to help identify local priorities at community area level.
The information below covers the following areas:

Number of persons aged 18 years and over estimated to be overweight or obese
Unlike with children (in the form of the National Child Measurement Programme), data in relation to adult weight is not routinely collected and we rely instead on estimates modelled on survey data. The most recent of these (the 2017/18 Active Lives Survey, conducted by Sport England) indicates that the prevalence of excess weight in adults aged 18 years and over in Wiltshire is 57.6%. As data in relation to excess weight in adults is only available at Wiltshire, as opposed to community area level, the graph above shows the number of adults in each community area who would be obese or overweight if the 2017/18 Wiltshire prevalence of 57.6% was applied to the local population aged 18 years and over.

Percentage of the eligible population aged 40 - 74 years offered an NHS Health Check who received an NHS Health Check
As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease or type 2 diabetes. NHS Health Checks are available to adults in England aged between 40 -74 years of age and are designed to help people live healthily for longer by checking circulatory and vascular health to identify any early signs of disease.
