Healthy behaviours and improvement services; Health and Wellbeing JSNA 2017/18

Our behaviours and lifestyles have a major influence on our health. This data pack explores some of the lifestyles and behaviours that are known to have an impact on a person’s health. Behaviours such as alcohol consumption, physical activity, diet, cigarette smoking and drug misuse. These lifestyle choices are important risk factors for major diseases such as cancer, diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and liver disease.

260,111 (65.8%) of adults are estimated to be overweight or obese in Wiltshire

(Active People Survey 2013-15).

53,285 (13.9%) of adults smoke cigarettes in Wiltshire

(Annual Population Survey, 2016)

110,019 (28.7%) consume more than the recommended amount of alcohol in Wiltshire

(Health survey for England, 2011-14, taken from Local Alcohol Profiles for England).

The Healthy behaviours and improvement services data pack provides information on exercise, diet and weight management, maternity, sexual health, alcohol drug misuse, smoking and end of life care. The data pack includes comparisons to England, the South West and Wiltshire’s statistical neighbours. Trend is also included where appropriate along with gender, age and deprivation analysis.
