Community Area Overview
The needs of the local community are at the heart of what we do and these reports are written for local people. The data, information, knowledge and evidence provided about each area aims to assist local communities to decide their priorities and to inform local decision making.
These reports provide our community areas with information about:
- health and wellbeing
- children and young people
- older people
- community safety
This year’s reports also reflect on the huge amount of work that has taken place in our communities in the last few years.
We know how much of a difference locally-led projects can make to people. Since 2013, area boards, local volunteers and community groups have supported innovative projects which address local challenges.
We have had some real successes. One local project got more than 8,000 people out cycling and walking. Local businesses in all of our towns have created safe places for vulnerable people. Numerous cultural events including carnivals, fetes, fairs and festivals have brought people together.
Development of these community area reports has only been possible as a result of our well established partnership working with local people, with colleagues at Wiltshire’s Clinical Commissioning Group, Wiltshire Police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, and with local voluntary and community organisations. We have brought together local data that will help us work towards making community areas in Wiltshire better places to live, work and visit.
On behalf of Wiltshire Public Services Board and Wiltshire Council we would like to thank everyone who has been involved in producing the community area JSAs for their help to deliver improved outcomes and make a difference to local lives.
